BOMBAY.
A very successful EeJ Cross afternoon and evening was given in the Bombay Hall on Tuesday, May 29th, by the following ladies of Bombay, viz., Mesdames H. Sawyer, G. Carter, James, Evans (Ivanhott), Frcit&h and Watson, whose efforts resulted in a sum of £2O 14s being sent o the Victoria League. Mrs W. J. D. If harp of Rama Rama, explained in a neat little speech the work t' e League is doing for "our loy?." Mrs F L. Wright, of Raven.-thorp, kindly supplied the dance music for the evening. The afternoon was greatly enjoyed by the children who were allowed to leave school at half past two for the occasion Guesting competitions, etc., were much appreciated Mavis Watson, aged five, sang two songs very prettily, and Mrs E Flay contributed a fong, while everal recitations and piano tolos helped to make an enjoyable afternoon. Afternoon tea was handed round The following contributed to the evening's programme, viz, Messrs J Brown and Wood (songs), Miss McC-wen, Messrs Blake and Ramsay (musical trio) and the Misses Balme, Wright, and Wootton (recitations). Mrs Shanahan, a well known resident of Bombay, had ttie misfortune to be kicked by a horse on Sunday, 3rd inst., a fractured leg resulting. She was taken to Auckland for medical treatment.
