PAPAKURA

Mr 0. Parmenter, saddler, one of whose sons, Gunner Frank Parmenter, some time ago roturnf d invalided from service, has two other sons serving at the Front, while two more have been drawn in the ballot and are likely to proceed to c imp. As showing that the family has the military spirit, it is worthy of recor 1 that the late grandfather of those "boys" was a Sergeant in the British Artillery and served his full term of 21 years. Mr Parmenter's sister (Mrs King of Otautau, Southland) has also three sons now serving at the front. Altogether a good family record! The death took place in Auckland on Monday of last week after a short illness of Miss Longmore, whose parents resided here some years ago. The deceased was a niece of the late Hon. Francis Longmore of Victoria, Australia, who for over 25 years represented that State in Parliament For many years tho deceased lady was a teacher under the Auckland Education Board and was highly respected throughout the district. The funeral took place at Papakura on Wednesday last, the Rev. Kempton Knowles, of Auckland, being the olhciating Minister. 'J he late Miss Longmore was a cousin of Mr E. S. Cole and of Messrs Willis Brothers.
