Between Bombay and the Raiua Rarud district the neat farm houses, sheltered by lofty trees which serve as protection against storm and wind, give a good impression to the passer-by. Well clipped hedges anc 1 neatly kept gardens all serve to indicate that trimness which is the essential to cleanliness. There is every indication in this district that farms as far as possible are being well cultivated despito the shortage of labour. Many a paddock, which was in pasture a few months ago, has lately been ploughed and has been made ready for cropping. Some of the turnip crops are, howcvor, showing blight.
