AUCKLAND WOMEN'S PATRIOTIC LEAGUE.

Pukekohe Branch. The quarterly meeting of members of the Pukekohe Branch of the Auckland Women's Patriotic League was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Wednesday, February 28th. Present—Miss Webster (in the chair), Mesdames Hooey, Stuart, Webb, Jones, Moore, Crum, Bayly, Hart, Mtie, Grigor, Mcßae, Papesch, Baxter, Misses Stuart, Goldsworthy and I. Brown.

Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames McArthur, Motion and Barter.

The President read the report which showed that the League commenced this quarter with 33 members, five of whom were elected at the last general meeting. At an executive meeting held during the quarter seven new members had been elected and the membership now totalled 40. A few members had resigned from the Canvassing Committee but new ones had come forward to the vacancies for which the Fxecutive were very grateful. Gift Parcels totalled 767 for this quarter as against 867 last quaiter. Acknowledgments for these parcels were constantly coming to hand and " the boys " were unanimous in their appreciation of the contents. There had been a slight falling off in knitted goods, the total buiug 49 caps, 30 pairs of mittens, 22 pairs sox, 11 scarves and 1 belt 50 sanitary shirts and 50 hussifs have also to be included in the quarter's work. The Sewing Com-

rnittee had undertaken to make 50 hussifs and 50 sanitary shirts per mouth till December, the fillings of the first-named to be paid for by the League at a cost of 8d each instead of 7d as formerly. One box of books and magazines had been forwarded each month to Auckland. Almost everyone could help in this way as books can be left at Council rooms anv-time.

The following is the statement of balance-sheet as read by the President : Money in bank end of last quarter, £IBO 14s lOd ; expenditure for three months, £24 4s ; cash paid to Bank, £3 19s 6d ; leaving a credit balance in Bank of £l6O 10s 2d.

A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Miss Webster as President and Miss Galloway was duly elected as a member of the Branch.
