STOCK SALE REPORT.

Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report as follows : On Wednesday at our weekly Westfield fat stock market, our entry of fat cattle totalled 405 head, comprising 25G steers, 142 cows and heifers and 7 bulls. There was a steady demand throughout. In some cases of heavy cattle, prices were a little easier, but prime medium weights maintained late rates. Choice ox sold to £2 10s, prime £2 7s to £2 9s, ordinary and plain £2 4s to £2 6s ; cows and heifers, £2 2s to £2 6s 6d ; steers ranged in price from £l3 to £25 ; cows and heifers, £8 to £l6. The highest averages for steers included 8 from Mr James Muir, Waerenga, £l9 15s; 8 from Mr B. Reed, Waerenga, £l9 Is 3d; six cows from Mr Isaac Gray, Papatoetoe, averaged £l3 3s 9d. There was again a heavy yarding of sheep, a big proportion being unfinished. The demand and values were on a par with late quotations. Extra heavy prime wethers, £2 0s 6d to £2 2s ; heavy prime wethers £1 17s 6d tj £2, medium to heavy prime wethers £1 15s 6d to £1 17s, light and unfinished £1 9s to £1 15s ; extra heavy prime ewes, £1 14s to £1 17s; good prime ewes £1 lis to £1 13s 6d, others £1 8s to£l 10s; store ewes, 15s to £1 3s 6d (1738 penned.) Lambs penned in record numbers and sold readily at ruling price. Extra heavy prime £l 10s to £1 14s 9d 36 from Mis A. C. Hunter, Pukekawa, averaged £1 13s 8d ; good prime lambs £1 6s to £1 8s 6d, lighter £1 3s 6d to £1 5s 6d, small 17s to £1 3s. Fat and young calves came forward in full numbers, and were considerably easier in price. Bunners made from £6 10s to £lO 12s 6d for eighteen month heifers; heavy vealers £5 to £6 ss, medium £4 to £4 15s 6d, lighter £2 15s to £3 17si6d, light £1 15s to £2 12s 6d; small and fresh dropped 2s to £1 13s (105 sold.) Pigs were yarded in excess of requirements and were easier in price. Choppers and heavy baconers sold from £4 to £5 ss, others £2 16s to £3 18s; large porkers £2 4s to £2 15s, small £l 10s to £2 2s; slips, 18s to £ls 6s; weaners 88 to 16s; suckers, 4s 6d to 7s 6d (376 sold).
