PUKEKAWA.

A farmer, Mr Frank Zettwitz, 61 years of age, repidirig at Fukekawa, was admitted to trie Auckland hospital last evening suffering from a fractured thigh. Mr Zettwitz, who is a single man, sustained the injury through being thrown from a cart which be whs driving.

A large number nf people take advantage cf his exchange library, and it is well to rememter that he keeps a good raniie of magazines. He is also a distributing agent for this paper. Under tfce auspices of the Fapakura Send-off Committee a wellattended and very successful social took place in the Farish Hall last Thursday evenirg, the gathering being ananged as a farewell to Privates W. J. Carpenter, R. Johnson and W. Pulbaro. The two last named were unfortunately unable to be present, but the company included Privates D. Trail (Hunua), B. Smith (Karaka) and W. Henderson (Ardmore), together with Private Melsor, who has recently returned from the front for the second time. Appropriate speeches were delivered by the Kev. W. C. Wood, Messrs D. W. Jones, E. Cole and C. C. Tuely, hon. secretary, and Private Carpenter was presented with a satety razor. Mrs Walters ably presided at the piano, and Mr W. Rowe acted as M.C. Supper was served under the supervision of Mesdames Woods and Willis.
