MERCER.
Quite a welcome hum of activity is to be observed in Mercer in connection with operations appertaining to the newly-formed Waikato Shipping Co., Ltd On the western bank of the river, opposite the wharf, a boat-building shed and an engineer's and blacksmith's shop are in course of erection. The s.s. Freetrader has been hauled up and the replanking of the vossel's hull is in progress, a sum of no less than £IOOO having been authorised for the overhaul of the boat. The building of a largo aud commodious storage shed adjacent to the wharf is also likely to bo started at an early date.
