MANUREWA.

MANUREWA ROAD BOARD The monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Monday last when there were present Messrs G. F. Druce (chairman), C. Coxhead, A. Muir, W. Brown and the acting clerk (Mr T. W. Bell). EE ROAD FORMATION. As Mr Roy who had iu hand the supervising of the formation of Blair and Beihler's roads, was not present, no report was received and the matter was deferred to the next meeting. DEPUTATION FROM TOWN BOARD. Mr T. J. Corin, chairman of the Manurewa Town Board, waited upon the Board as a deputation from that body re the raising of a joint Special Loan for the purpose of forming the approaches to a proposed bridge near the new station. He explained that the ratepayers in the Road Board district included in the area were agreeable to the proposal and submitted the necessary preliminary steps to be taken. After discussion the Board unanimously agreed to co-operate in the scheme as it was considered to be of great utility to those interested as also present and future residents of the district. In connection with this matter the acting clerk was appointed returning officer. BRIDGE AX WIRI. The chairman reported that the bridge at William Kerr's had been carried a considerable distance from its original position by the force of water accruing from the recent storm. He mentioned that he had inserted a public notice re closing of the road until the damage could be rectified. He also stated he had received a tender for the work, which he considered reasonable and this was accepted. The chairman was authorised to supervise and expedite the work. CULVERT —MOUNTAIN ROAD. The clerk reported tliat the culvert on Mountain road had been put in as per instructions. It had been thoroughly tested by the recent abnormal storms and had proved sufficient. The report was endorsed by the Board. hill's road. Mr Muir intimated that he had been in communication with Captain Clayton on the matter of Hill road and after discussion the clerk was instructed to write Captain Clayton requesting liiui to make arrangements with Mr Hill about metalling the road prior to the Board accepting dedication and to explain that as no public money had been spent on the road the Board could not assist in the matter. ARREARS OI RATES The clerk was instructed to issue a fresh demand for overdue rates with 10 per cent added to all persona iu arrears alter Feb. 14th. milauoulan's road. Mr Coxhead and Mr Brown were authorised to inspect and report at next meeting on the condition of this road.
