ONEWHERO.
THE RECENT SHOW. ADDITIONAL AWARDS. A full report has already appeared of the rosults of the various exhibits at the Onewhero show, proving how well it was patronised. The whole district now talks of our show and all recognise it as a good advertisement of the district's prosperity and progress. Keen competition was shown tor the sectioD prizes and championship Mosdames McKibbon and 0. Walter tied with 17 marks each for first in the flower nection, the prize being donated by Mr E. Allan, of Buckland. Mrs Keyes easily led in the baking section with the fine total of 40 marks, gaining the chest of tea presented by Messrs Hutchison Bros. MrsL. Allen annexed 79 marks and so led in the needlework section securing the fine rose bowl presented
by Mr Cole. of Tuakau. Mrs 0. Walter easily gained the fruit and vegetable prize given by Messrs Dalgety's, Ltd, with 26 marks. For the Onewhero Cup (held for one year) Mrs Keyes desened great credit for her effort gaining a total of 60 marks, Mrs C Walter came second with 55, Mrs McKibbon with 48 and Mrs Allen with 46. Grpat excitement was caused among the huge crowd that filled the hall in the evening by guessing for Gussie—an easy missing word and mksing person competition. " Please Gussie give me the prize,' was obtained by many but they did not ask the right person. Those who did ask Gussie did not ask aright. Meanwhile the various raffles went on and the auction time arrived too soon to conduct the other competitions. The bidding on the whole was good and the gift stall was cleared out as also most of the exhibits given for patriotic purposes. So far a total of £lll odd has been received and it is hoped that all who have money to give or donations will send the same at once to Mr H. Eyre, the tieasurer. The estimated expenses including printing, all prizes, hall fee, etc., are approximately £2O, but most people have already signified their intention of not taking their prize money and if all do this our goal of £IOO should be attained. •
At a largely attended committee meeting held on Tuesday last it was decided to allocate the proceedings as follows: £2O to the Belgian Fund, £2O to the Red Cross Fund and Auckland Branch, and the rest to the Y M.U.A. for use of N.Z wounded at the Front.
