STOCK SALE REPORTS.
Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons repoit as follows : On Wednesday, at our weekly Westfield fat stock market, our supply of fat cattle totalled 358 head, couprising 189 steers, 168 cows and heifers, and 1 bull. Although competition was less keen than last week, there was a steady demand throughout at values which were about on a par with last report. Choice ox sold to £2 10s per 1001b, prime £2 7s to £2 9s, r ugh and plain £l 15s to £2 3s, cow and heifer beef £l. 19s to £2 6s per 1001b; steers ranged in price from £l4 10s to £37 10s; cows and heifers £9 10s to £22 10s. Show cattle sold as follows : Mr H. A. Swaffield, heavy-weight steer, £37, bought by Messrs R. and W. Hellaby, L'd.; Mr W. W. McLaughlin, heavy steer, £33, bought by Messrs He'laby, Ltd ; Mr A. Orr, four-ypar old steer, £37 10s, bought by Messrs Fletcher and Co. (The gross prjceeds of this beast goes to the Red Cross fund). Mr A. Orr, three-year-old steer, £2l, bought by Mr T. Baster; two thre«-year-old steers, £2l 15s; Mr A. Orr, four freezing steers, £2O 15s, two bought by the Auckland Meat Company and two by Messrs Hellaby, Ltd.; Mr A. Orr, Holstein steer, £ 19, bought by Messrs Hellaby, Ltd ; Mr J. Wornsop, two fat cows, £22 lOsand £2olos. Sheep were penned in about average numbers and met with a keen sale at last week's rates. Extra heavy prime wethers, £l 17s Gd to £1 19s (Show wethers, £2 to £2 6s 6d. We sold several exhibits at these prices from Messrs F. R. Seddon, A. D. Bell, and Parry Sutton. Show ewes from Messrs F. R. Seddon and Parry Sutton, £! 13s 9d to £1 17s). Heavy prime wethers £1 15s to £1 17s medium and light, £1 13s to £1 Hs 6d, unfinished wethers £1 9s 6d to £1 12s Gd, best prime shorn ewes £ I 10s to £1 15s, good ewes £1 5s Gd to £1 9s, other ewes £1 Is to £1 4s 6d, hoggets £1 6s to £1 10s. 1388 sold. There was an extra large yarding of lambs, and in consequence prices were lower than late extreme rates Best heavy prime £1 6s Gd to £1 8s 9d (23 from Mr T. Henwood, Mangere, averaged £1 7s 9d), good primo £l 3s Gd to £1 Gs from Mr H. Aitkenhead, Parakai, averaged £l 5s 9d), lighter £1 Is to £1 3s, light 16s to £l. 379 sold. Fat and young calves were in better demand Runners brought from £8 to £lO 7s Gd, heavy vealers £5 5s to £6, medium £3 17s to £5, lighter £3 5s to £3 15s, light £2 5s to £2 19s, small and fresh dropped lGs to £2. 70 sold. Pigs were penned in full numbers and showed no improvement in values. Choppers realised from £3 8s to £5 2s 6d, heavy baconers £3 2s 6d to £3 ss, others £2 12s to £3, largo porkers £2 5s to £2 10s, others £1 1 Is to £2 3s, forward slips £l 7s to £l 12s, weaners 14s to £l, suckers 9s. 247 sold.
