WOMEN'S PATRIOTIC LEAGUE.
Pukekohe Branch.
A meeting of the Pukekohe branch of the Women's Patriotic League was held in the Borough Council Chambers on November Bth. Present Miss Webster (in the chair, Mesdames Mcßae, Webb, Baxter, Misses Graham and Usher. Letters of acknowledgement and thanks were read from the Mayoress, Auckland, for two parcels of knitted goods and also for two pairs of slippers. A letter was also read intimating that a badge had been adopted which could be worn by any member of the league. The secretary was instructed to procure the badges and any member wishing to buy one could apply to her for the same, the price to be 2s each. Mrs Gunson expressed her extreme satisfaction with the efforts of the Branch Leagues as regards the Dominion Gifts, the results being 6500 'Xnias boxes sent to France, 450 billies to Egypt,' 50 billies to prisoners of war in Germany and Turkey, 100 boxes are ready for Samoa, 1000 boxes are ready for men at sea, about 50 gifts are still to be packed and posted to Mesopotamia. Mrs Gunson especially asked that no efforts be slackened in canvassing for these gifts. Miss Webster reported having received 333 Dominion Gifts for October and expressed her extreme satisfaction with the generous support given by the public. The following names were added to the list of members, viz., Miss Norma Stuart and Miss Glover (Puni). Accounts to the amounf of £ll 15s 8d were passed for payment. Miss Usher, convenor of the Sowing Committee, reported having received a letter from Miss Spedding intimating the need of "sanitary shirts" for the boys in the firing line. Miss Usher added that the Sewing Committee had agreed to make 50 shirts each month. Mrs Baxter, convenor of the Knitting Committee, repotted having posted to Auckland two parcels knitted comforts containing 53 caps, 15 scarves, 22 pairs socks, 8 belts, 2 pairs bed-socks and 14 pairs mittens. The convenor applied to tho executive for the sum of £8 IDs -Id to purchase wool for next months working and tho same was granted. ! tonations were reported as follu\v : fc 'jks and wittony—Miss Hamlin tuvi Mrs Baxter, 1 pair each. o, >< ks—Mrs E. Workers of caps —Mrs Wilson (Frankton), 6; Mesdames Kimber, Crum, Mellsop, 4 each; Mesdames Robinson, Woollett, 3 each; Mesdames Hewlett, Thornell, Dymock (Frankton), McKinney, Mws Graham, 2 each; Mesdames Blake,
W. I. Jones, A. E. Taylor, W. Gold a worthy, Baxter, Miss L. Dymock (Frankton), 1 each. Belts—Mesdames Hewlett, Kimber, R. 8. Moore, 2 each ; Mrs Maxwell, Miss Graham, 1 each. Socks—Mesdames Grant 5 pair, Meekle (Pollok) 3, Mrs Payne, Miss Graham 2 pair, Mesdames R. S. Moore, Robin sod, Miss A. Hogan, 1 pair each. Scarves—Mesdames Brown, senr., Thornell, Hart, McArthur, Misses Hewlett, Ivy Brown, Madill, Barbar, Usher, Goldsworthy, Gwen Fulton, Master Eric Wright, 1 each.
Mittens—Mesdames Cowperwaite 11 pair. Motion 2 pair, Mies Chalmers 1 pair.
