CONVENT PUPILS' CONCERT.
A Successful Entertainment
The annual coaceit given last night in the Premier Hall by pupils attending the Pukekohe Convent attracted in audience that taxed the seating accommodation to its utmost capacity, those present demonstrating their appreciation of the efforts pat forward by loud and continuous applause. Both from in. educational and hnmcial aspect the concert was highly successful, some eighteen items, including a playette and draxa, in which the young amateurs were cilled on to negotiate lengthy and difficult passages, being rendered in a manner that did them great ere lit. The total proceeds amounted to over £32.
That nothing bad been spa cd to ensure the success ot the prrcedings was evijent to all by the completeness of the stage decorations and by the pretty costumes worn by the perform tt. The limtlight effects, manipulated ny Mr J. J. Coady. served to add to the brilliancy ot the scenes and intensified thi picttresqusness of the dresses.
Opening with the singing of God Save the King, tb? eweert programme was gtne through without delay ar.d with a brightness that lett a very f_vuwable imprestio . As master of the "Coach ant Four," action sing, Master Leslie Koadley brilliantly tilled his role, while Master Desmond Clatke's rendering of the s -ng " The House on the Hill" produced a well deserved encore. Miss Mary Pulman sang "God Blrsi My Soldier Daddy" with great fe ling, and in a way that stirred up the patriotic fe lings ot he; hearers. Undoubted evidence of dramatic ability was evinced by Miss Lulu O'Connor, as Alix Keronef, w-.dow of a fisherman, and Mies Vera Williami as Madame de Saiot Aignan, a lady ot wealth, in the drama "The Breton Cottege."

The exhibition of fancy drill given by the senior pupils was both unique and effective, the pretty garlanded half-boops which they carried being wielded with charm.
