WAR CASUALTIES.

News was received on Wednesday by Mrs N. Hughes, of King street, Pukekohe, that her an, Albert, who left with the sth Reinforcements, had been killed in action. At the outset of the war he en listed in Auckland, in wbich city be had followed the occupation of a decortor. Being a capable gunner he was attached to the garrison at Fort Takapuna, Auckland, and remanned there until be left for the front. Before going to France be 88W service in Egypt and on the Peninsula, and was engaged at times as a despatch rider. He was 22 years of age. Whilst in Pukekohe he was a member of the Pukekohe Town Band and Lodge Excelsior, Uo. 70. A cable received by Mr Cecil Roadtey. of Pukekohe, on Wednesday from his son, Corporal Albert Frederick Roadley, intimated that be (Corporal Roadley) was wounded and in hospital in France. Corporal Roadley departed as a member ot the Auckland Infantry Battalion with the VJth Reinforcements. Only this week a letter, dited August 10th, was received l'com him stating that at the time of writing he was in camp in England and was qualifying as a bnmb-tnrower. Telegraphed information from tbc Defence Department reached Mr W. Blake in Pukekohe last night that bis son, Corporal oeorge Blake, wai wounded and in hospital. Corporal Blake Uft with the 11th Reinforcement as a member of the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, but in a recent letter he stated that he had been transferred to the 2nd Battalion of the Anzacs. He was born in Pukekohe and was 21 yeara ot age. At the time of hit enlisting he was assisting bis father in the Messrs Blake bro«.' blacksmith's busings.

The name of Private C. Dale, son of Mr R. Dale, of Pukekob?, and brother of Mr K. H. Dale ot Maungatawhiri Valley, appears in the cusualty hit issued last night as among tbe wounded. Private Hartley Parker, who was engaged on tbe railway grade easement works at Pukekob; wnen be joined the 11th Keinforcements, is reported by the authorities as bring "dangeroubly ill from wounds."
