ALFRISTON.
TWENTY-FIVE YEAKS A lAY-
READER.
A very enjoyable function took place in the Alfriston Hall last Saturday night, when the parishioners and friends of the Anglican Church met to give tangible expression of their appreciation of the services rendered by Mr C. H. Lupton as Lay Reader for a quarter of a century. Vocal items were contributed by Mesdames Middeton, Bodle and Moody, while Mr H. Moody gave a recitation and a reading. Mr D. A. Eeid, in a very able speech, presented Mr Lupton with a handsome illuminated address and also an oak writing desk. Feeling speeches were made by Messrs J. Muir, Gr. Mclnnes and H. Moody on behalf of old settlers and friends.
Mr C. H. Lupton feelingly replied and expressed the hope and pleasure it would give him when convenient to return to the duties which were very near his heart. He expressed his sincere thanks for many acts of courtesy extended to him by Valley and Ard more friends.
The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
