PAPAKURA.
The sale of work held in the Methodist Sunday schoolroom last Wednesday and Thursday, and opened by Mrs Pacey, of Auckland, was well attended, the proceeds going towards the reduction of the balance of the contract money owing on the new Sunday school. Preparations for the event were begun some 12 months ago by members of the Ladies' Methodist Guild, to whom the credit is due for very maty of the choice articles offered for sale. Within the hall, on the walls and statue, evergreens and nikau palms were tastefully arranged. The stalls wore in the capable hands of the following, viz : Mosdames Richardson and 'Woodhouse ; children's stall, Mesdames Ell:'s and Williamson; fane? stall, Mesdames Beaton and Phillips; provisions stall, the Rev. Potter and Mr Baulf; lolly stall, Mrs Whittaker and Miss Bates; fairy tree, Miss Batos; and shooting gallery, kindly lent by the Papakura Ride Club, Mr J. Seaton ; and the team room was in charge of Mrs Morgan. In the fancy work competition prizes were awarded as follows: —Ciochet, Mesdumes Beaton, Bichardson and Bamford and Miss Evans; supper cloth, Mrs Moir; table centre, Mies M. Young; cushion, Miss H. Brodie. The following were successful in other competitions, viz. : Shooting, Misses Linstrom and B. Johnson and Messrs A. Evans and C. Tuely; and pawder guessing, Mis 9 B. Johnson.
