Pennv and Percy Ferguron, of the 17th Reinforcements, at the Carnival 'lea Rooms on Friday last, Privatea J. Steenson and Percy Rowe being unavoidably absent. Afternoon tea waa partaken of by a large company, and on behalf of tbe citizens Mr C. K. Lawrie presented each of the guests with a safety razor, similar gifts being subsequently forward d to Privatea Steenson and Rowe, as alao to Trooper E. J. Bilkey, who recently left tbe town for military duty at Samoa. Musical items were rendered by Mrs Pilkington and Mr W. T. Jonev, Miss Penman acting as accompanist. A recitation was also given by Mr H. V. Gribble.
