DARING BURGLARY AT BOMBAY.

The Store Entered. During the night of Thursday last a daring burglary *BB perpetrated at tbc g»ntr-l *tere-*t I Unmbav, of which Mr K. McCowen j is the owner. Mr McCowen resides alongside hia business premises, but hrard nothing of the occurrence, which whs i.ot discovered until the following morning. The store is situated opposite the Bombay post office at the junction of the Great South road with the Bom bayPaparata road, with frontages to both thoroughfares. Entrance to the buildiig was effected by aome instrument being skilfully used to bore holes iu the d»or giving entrance tu the store from tin Bombay-Faparata ro«d and »ith a sufficiently large aperture made in , the woud-work a band was evidently insertel and with the slidinglock within thus booming ac esaible the door was opened, The intruder or intruders ransacked the office but luckily the day's takiigs, Kith the exception of a few shillings, hid beeti removed from 'the till and deposited in a safe, which receptacle of money evidently was not found by the Waiting party. >nr the floor in its immediate vicinity bnre no traces of disturbance. As it was a considerable qui ntity cf cigarettes in packets and about £1 worth of stamps were stolen, together with a small sum in casb from the till. The police have been making full enquiries into the affair but so far without result. Their opinion is that the burglary waa carried out by some experienced band and not by any "amateur" tbiet or thieves.
