TUAKAU

Cabled advice was yesterday received by his relatives in Tuakau that Private W. Pirret, of the Bth Reinforcements, bad been wounded and wae at a base hospital in France. Prior to enlisting Private Pirret was a partner with bis brother?, Messrs James and John Pirret. in the well known black- v smithing business at 'fnakao, cantrolled by "Pirret Bros." It ia interesting to note that three other ex-members ot the "smithy" starf are alsj at the front. . A temporary transfer of the license of the Tuakau Hotel, ti be confirmed at the next quarterly meeting of the Raglan Liceneirg Committee, has bean made from Mr R. Stewart to Mr James Fleming, late of the Masonic Hotel, Cambridge. Mr Stewart leaves Tuakau to-day and intends taking a holiday prior to entering into possession of the Commercial Hotel, Hamilton, in December. Mr. H. Craig has disposed of his swamp farm (partly improved), situated on the Pukekohc-Bockland road and consisting of 130 I acres, to a local resident, the price paid being £2l per acre. The Tuakau Town Board hole's its nrdinary monthly meeting tonight (Tuesday) when the matters of the road improvement scheme and the projected ovethead railway bridge will receive further ccn« sideration.
