TUAKAU SOUTH.
Mr Ashley Hunter has just recently completed a comprehensive inspection of the Waikato River from the Heads to Churchill, including the Whangamarino and Maramarua Creeks. His report thereon will be awaited with interest. The river continues very low yot for the time of the year and it is impossible to travel far in the lowor reaches except on the tide. There is talk of a large company being formed to take over the existing trading companies on the river and to establish an up-to-date service from the Heads to Pirongia and Hamilton. There is already a large traffic on the river and its tributaries and it will increase largely in the immediate future. Business continues brisk at this end of the district. The flax mills are running full time and all the launches are busy. Mr P. Lapwood has recently erected a tine store room and stables in connection with his carrying business. The Eivor Board Las brought up its plant to the landing and has hauled out some of the punts preparatory io giving them a general overhaul.
