WAIPIPI.
PATBIOTIC SOCIAL. On Friday evening last a tocial was held in the school in aid of the destitute children of Belgium. The function was in every way a gr eat success, tli3 takings at the door totalling £3 7s. The ladies were to the fore, and supplied and arranged a very nice supper. Messrs Cowel and Hewitt provided good music, and Mr Michie, as M.C., was most energetic. During the evening the chairman thanked those present for their support to so worthy an object, and also stated that another similar gathering would be held next month. Groat credit is due to the workingbee of ladies that turned up the next morning to clean the school, everything being in "apple pie" order by mid-day.
For this time of year the weather still continues dry, and the roads are as in good order as in the summer. Grass paddocks are doing well. Butter-fat is not talkod of yet to any extent, but time is running on and another good dairying season is looked forward to with confidence. .*.
