WAERENGA.
WHANGAMARINO ROAD BOARD. The iirst meeting of the newly elected Board was held on Saturday last when there were present Messrs R. (Jlephane, H. S. Hall, J. A. Sampson, D. K. Martin, J. Taylor, J. Keith and D. Shanks, with the clerk and engineer (Mr G. 11. Herbert). Mr J. A. Sampson was elected chaiiuian. It was decided that in future all accounts must be sent to the clerk before the day of meeting otherwise they would be held over. A circular letter from the Employers' Association was read and after some discussion was received. The Public Works Engineer wrote that before taking any action re the proposed bridge over the Whangamarino he would visit the site. It was resolved on the motion of Mr D. K. Martin to sell the Board's team. Some discussion took place ou the question of rating on unimproved values and it was ultimately decided to take a poll on the question. It was arranged to advertise for a permanent surfaceman for the Rangiriri sub-division. The clerk stated that about £3OO of rates Mas unpaid and it was decided to issue summonses for the re covery of the same. The poll on the question of adopting ratiug on unimproved values for the Whangamarino Road Board's district has been fixed for Friday, July 7th. The polling hours will be from 'J a.m. to 0 p.m., aud there will be three pollingbooths, viz. : The Road Board's oilice, Waerenga ; the Hall, Te Kauwhata ; and the Fost Office, Maramarua. The Road Boaid's rates for the current year have been rixed as follows, viz., 1[ d iu the £ for the AVaerenga sub-divisioa, Id for the Rangiriri sub-division, and id for the Maramarua sub-division.
