Another sale of property is reported here, Mr Lewis having disposed of his farm of over 400 acres at a satisfactory figure. This makes the fifth land deal inside a couple of months.
While proceeding to the local quarry last week with the stone crusher, the Franklin County Council's engine partially went through a bridge on the main road, breaking the decking and one stringer. Fortunately no damage was done to the machinery, the engine being safely extricated next day. As another bridge a little further on was found, on inspection, to be also unsafe, the driver and staff were compelled to turn and retrace their steps to Patumahoe without breaking a stone.
A powerful now grader, under the '.ontrol of Mr Bert Loekwood, id just now at work on the maiu road from th"e" "Creamery towards Fapa
rimu, and is fast putting some miles of the road in order. The efficiency of its work and the despatch with which operations are carried out are a revelation to those accustomed to the old-time methods.
