PUKEKOHE EAST.
The first of a series of monthly socials to be teld in the Public Hall took place on Thursday last and was made the fitting occasion of farewelling Miss Vera Brown and Mr Fred Wright, The hall was packed to its utmost capacity, vi'itors arriving from all the neighbouring districts, and it was the unanimous sckncwledgement that this was the most pl.asant evening ever spent in thid well known building. In a valedictory speech Mr J Glennie wished the departing guestß God Speed and future prosperity, and expressed sincere regret that two such popular young folks were leaving tbe neighbourhood. Mr Fred Wright responded, thanking everybody on behalf of himself and Miss Brown for the most enjoyable evening they had spent. The music supplied by Mrs D Keane was greatly appreciated, Messrs J Glenie ajd P Ferguson acted as M.C.s
