Ihe function was arianged by the Railway Patriotic Committee and was presid.d over by Mr A (i C Glass. Ttie usual montblv meeting cf the Waikato River Board, which was due to be held on Siturday, was postponed, the members having been occpuisd during the greater portion of last week in connection with the Minister of Marine's visit ot inspection on the river. Instructions have been given by the Waikato River Hoard for the d benture3 in connection with the Roto Nagro drainage scheme to be prepared. Mr White, manager foi Messrs Stead and Co, has been rnvitsd to prepare a Int of the properties that will benefit from the proposal, si that a rating roll can be prepared. The scheme is to clean out the waterway leading trom the Wliangape river to Roto NBrgo lake, which pas:es through a large number of properties
