Papakura By-Laws.
TO THE EDITOR, j Sir,—A paragraph appeared in your paper of January 28th making strong comment on two members of the Fapakura Town Board (the chairman and Mr Campbell) for th".ir want of progress in blocking what is termed a progressive move. ureal care seems to have been taken to mislead the ratepayers into thinking that there have been no by-laws to govern Papakura for the last 30 years. Thi3 is not correct. Within the last six months the Town Board paid about £9 tor a set of by-laws and sent a copy to every carter and business house. Two prosecutions have taken place under these bylaws. What is now wanted by one member is another set, which would cost about £3O The chairman and Mr Campbell obj'ct to any more money bung spent on by-laws, as they do not think there is any pressing necessity in that wav at present. The; prefer to have the money spent in improving the roads and Ihus meeting the wishes of the ratepayers I think l'apakura ought to be proud of the men who have formed the Town Board tor the last thirty years, and brought it up to its present stigc almost tree of debt, especially seeing that our roads will compare favourably with places that have borrowed heavily. -1 am, etc .
