BUCKLAND.

HONOURING THE BRAVE.

The people ot Buckland district turned out en maese on Friday night, November 12th, to welcome back Sergeant Leighton and Corporal Delaney, who have been invalided home. The hall was tastefully decorated with bunting, flowers and ferns. Mr E. Allan occupied the chair, and in hii remarks gave the boys a hearty welcome. Messrs Wilcox, Wily, Neal and Piggot also spike io glowing terms of the manner in which the guests of the evening so readily responded to their country's call. Sergeant Leighton expressed thanks lor the kind welcome extended to them. Mr Leighton, senr., in his remarks, thanked all for the welcome to his son. j The following musical items were rendered:—Pianoforte duet, Misses Allen; song, "My Ain Folk," Mrs McAnally; book, "Knitting," Miss Bagnall; song, Mr T. Walker; sung, "Your King and Country Need You," Miss Davy; selections on handheld, Mr F. Soustsr; song and choruo, "Boys of the Dardanelles," Mits R. Allan; song, Mr Gummer. Supper was then served and ringing cheers were given fo; tbe "boys." The National Anthem brought a splendid evening to a close.
