A m eting of thd Executive o( the abovewamed orga. ration was held oti Monday evening last, Mr R. F. Webster, pre.ident, being in the chair.

The bon. secretary, Mr B. Andrew, leported that in compliance, with the request made, by the Council for improved telephonic facilili a st the railway station goods office a separate telephone (No. 96) had been installed in the goods shed instead of the same being attached to a party line attached to the passenger etatioo.

It web decided to communicate with the Postal Department calling attention to the tiulty system of tlis local telephonic installation whereby conversations were overheard instead of communications being restricted to the respective parties concerned. Further, it was resolved to remind the Department that the promised appointment ot a resident linesman bad not yet Jbeen given effect to. The existing postal arrangements were discussed and representations are to be made to the Postal Department with a view of securing a later despatch of mails than the present last dailv closing et 5 p.m., and of obtaining an earlier sotting of inward mails every morning.

It was reported that arrangements had been made for a deputation, consisting of delegates from the Borough Council, County Council and Chamber of Commerce, to wait on the Prime Minister (Mr Masßey) when be was uext in Auckland re railway matters including the request for the Main Trunk express trains to stop at Pukckohe.

It was resolved to suggest to the borough Council ths advisability of statiuning the recently purchased additional ho3e reels and fire bells in the outskiits of the town, viz., in West street and in East street, and aLo to ask that the proposed purchase of a town clock should be proceeded with.
