WAIROA ROAD BOARD.
Monthly Meeting.
The mont ly meeting if the Wairoa Koad board was held on Monday last, the members present beirg - Meesis A. D. Bell, chairman, J. McConaughy, J. Luke, H. Walsh and the clerk, Mr A. E. Bailey. VALUATION. The Valuation Department forwarded a summary of values of land under the Board's jurisdiction, as follows:—Capital value, 303,215; unimproved value, £175,661 ; value of improvements, £129,55. DOMINION ROAD. rh 3 Papakura Town board wrote drawing attention to several dangerous toles on Dominion road, and also to a bridge which required a handrail. Mr McConaughy was instructed to get "the road repairs carried out, and it was decided to get six t#o fet concrete p'pes 11 repl ice the biidgp. MAKAETAI COAST RCaD. Messrs McGinty and M. It was dceided to support the objection, and to write to the Right Hon. W. F. Massey reminding him if hid promise thit he would not consent to the toad being closed, and also to wtite to Sir Joseph Ward. It *as Ftated that the Premier had also promise! that a grant w ull be madj to complete the road. OL'AU ROAD. The matter of repair work on the Otau read was introduced by Mr McKenzie, but it was stated that no labour was available. —lt was decided that the matter be left in the hands of Messrs Bell and McKeizie. MATAITAI KOAD. Mr Luke reported that in accordance with a promisa made he had cat nd out formation work on the Mataitai road, and hsd also attended to a bridge which had be;n washed out. Free labour would also be available for the widening of a cutting on the road. RANGER. The chairman stated that Mr Dave had been appointed range", the appointment to be on a monthly basif, and he had already commenced duties. He bad pounded horses said to belong to an exranger. In connection with the matter cf a joint rarger the chairman stated that be bad mistaken the dati of the Papakura Town Board's meeting, and therefore had net waited upon that Board.—!t was decided that the deputation wait upon the Board next month. GENERAL. Mr McConaughy -repjrted that formation work and the installation "til a culvert had been carried out on McCullouah's road. With reference to the Matheson's road exchange, the chairman stat.d that Messrs Luke, McConaughy and himself had visited the locality and in their opinion a road could be made. The owner of the land, Mr Barker, had promised to give the land in exchange for an old roed, and Messrs Ellingham and Peacocke bad promised to do certain fincing work on tbe new road. It was resolved to do five chais of gravelling wo:k on Kauri Clump Road, Mr Walsh having promised to do the formation work. Mr McConaughy retorted that the two sets at pipes had been installed on Hamlin's Road, which was tow carrying a considerable amount of traffic. "1 am prepared to go anywhere you like to send me," said Mr Walsh, in anwser to a question by the chairman as to whether he could inspect certain work. "I think there is far too much work put on to you, Mr Chairman, and 1 am willing to lift part of the burden. Messrs Thorne and Thome, solicitors, advised that allotment 55, area 26 acres, in the Parish of Papakura, has been purchased by Mr C. <J. Rutherford, ot Aidmore.—Received. Mr Luke suggested that two sets of pipes were needed for Mataitai road, and it was decided that these be procured and installed. On Mr WaUh's motion it was resolved (hit 50 yards of imtal be placed on the Church road, Ardmore. T HINDER. The following tender was dealt with:—For earthworks on Creighton's road, H. L. Walsh, £9, accepted. ACCOUNTS. The following accounts were passed for payment:—J. McKmgbt and Co. £2 lis 8d; H. Alexander, £5; R. W. Hollingswortb, £5 8s;! M. P. Millett, £lO 18s; Thomas Peter, on, £ll 5s 4d; Peter Mataga, £9 9s; J. Wright, £9; J. Alexander, £lO 4s.
