" ii\ 'A farewell social was tendered to Mr and Mrs T. Pratt off Tuesday evening, iu the Rama Rama Public Hall. Mr and Mra Pratt, who are leaving to tske up their residence at Papakura, wtre the recipients of preMßti, in the form of a cigarttte bolder to the former and a handlome drawing room eight day clock, eultably inacribed, to the latter. Mr Janus Knott, io makiug the presentation on behalf ot the aettlera, atated that it waa with regret that they learned that the family were leaving the district with which they had been associated for so many years. Speaking personally as a neighbour he never wished to meet better people. They were ever ready to asstit and even went not of their way to do so. Mr Pratt suitably responded. There was a laige attendance at
the function, which was of a most pleasant nature. The music for the dances waa played by Messrs Barker and Forbes and waa thoroughly appreciated, being ot talented execution. Mr C. Kearns waa M.C. Mr ard Mrs Pratt are expected to tike their departure early next week. Mr A. Townaend, another very old resident, baa disposed of his farm and will shortly leave for Papakura. Mr Tuwnsend was one of thu very earliest settlers ot the district, having arrived in it over 40 years ago.
