SMOKING CONCERT.

Following on the open scooting handicap of the Pukekohe Gun Club held on Friday last, already rea most enjoyable ard hrgely attended smoking conc r rt was held in the evening at the Masonic Hall, Mr C. K. Lawrie peßidirg.

In proposing the tiast of the Pukekohe Gun Club, Mr J. Cosdy said that it was one of the finest organisations brought into existence, and all its members were keen sportsmen. The prizes which were continually donated to the Club were evidence of the healthy position of the Club. He considered the Club most fortunate in having Mrssrs Wilson and McNally on the list of membeship, as they were m=n wno cduH hold their own with tbe best shots in ths Dominion. In conclusion, he complimeuted the Club on the excellent management that had prevailed that day.—Mr Lawrie (president) responded, and intimated that there were no other organisations that gave him more pleasure to be associated with than the Gun Club. The members, he considered, were enthusiastic and took the sport ud and did their best in face of the expense it cost. He congratulated the Club on keeping to the front in district matches.—Mr A. P. Daysh (secreary) also responded, and mentioned that the Club was in a flourishing condition. He said that the shoot that day had been the most successful ever held under the auspices of the Club. The proceeds from the first nomination had paid for the prize money and the second nomination lees were practically all profit. (Applause). On rising to respond to "The Winners," Mr W. Wilson, Pukekohe, received an ovation. He briefly returned thanks. Mr Cris Naylor, Karangahake, also responded. Mr C. Koadley, in proposing the toast of the chairman, stated Mr Lawrie always came forward when possible to assist at any public function that was for the welfare of the district.

Musical items were rendered during the evening by the following:—Song?, Meßßie White, J. O'Malley, C. Roulley, Butler and W. Jones. Mr C. Kickit officiated at the piano, and Mr H. V. Gribble gave several recitations.
