FRANKLIN A. AND P. SOCIETY.

General Meeting

A meeting of the General Committee ot the Franklin A. and P. Society was held in the Soci-ty's office on the Showground on Saturday evening last, the following members attending, viz.:—Messrs D. R. Hamilton, in the chair, J. Wylie, J. Schlaepfer, J. H. Webb, J. Roulaton, D. Fulton and t v e secretary, Mr J. M. Baxter.

THE SHOWGROUND SECTIONS.

The Right Hon. W. F Massey, Prime Minister, wrote stating that he would phce the Society's offer of sections on the old ehowgrcund tor workeis' dwellings before the Superintendent ot the Workers' Dwellings, and after obtainirg a report would Lt the Society know whether the Government desired to purchase any of tbe land referred to.—Letter received. MACHINERY EXHIBITS.

Correspondence was received from the New Zeeland Farmers' Union stating that at the recent Drmwiun Conference a resolution was passed that all A. and P. should be asked to use influence to encourage the exhibi'io.i of argicultural implements.—On Mr Roulston's motion, secirdcd by Mr Fulton, it was decided to write to Ag/ijul'ural Implement Manufacturers and ask t\ieir reason for tot exhibiting more extensively than had recently been the case.

A further resolution submitted by the Union for support was "That the Railway Authorities be asked to allow agricultural implements to be transferred from one show to another without having to return to their original point of consignment after each show before a return of £ night could be obtained.—The chairman and secretary were deputed to approach tin General Manager of Railways on the matter.

LOCAL AGRICULTURAL COM. MITTEES.

A circular letter relative to the Council of Agriculture proposals that local Agricultural Committees should be appointed by County Councils was received from the former body with a request that the Society should assist in their establishment. —The matter was discussed without any denture action being taken.

THE SHOW

it was left to tha president and secretary to arrange for canvassers out of the General Committee to canvass for donations to next year's Show.
