HOSPITAL SHIP FUND. A well attended meeting was held in the Onewtero Hall on Saturday last to discuss ways and means of raising money to aid in the equipment of the second Ntw Zealand Hospital Ship, a gift of 1000 bath towels having been suggested. A committee of ladies and men Was elected, with Mr D. Moors as chairman and Mr N. Cole-Baker as secretary and treasurer, to canvas? the district and to see that the money collected was spent on necessities A circular soliciting donations has been sent out by the executive, the following statements being included in tbe appeal viz., "The second Ship is a dire necessity and it is only fair that those who are gritvoiuly wounded for us should be helped and comforted by u«. Have you ever thought what would have been tbe esse if the British Naw had not been able to char the seas of German cruisers and could not guard tha ports for our v ship?. Suppcsc that for over a year your tutter-tat, or cattle, or sheep, or wocl hail been useless for export! What wculd have been your postion to-day? Well, what percentage ought you to pay for Ibis insurance? Work cut tbe amount of the premium and pay now. Your patriotism and your fellow feeling fur those suffering for you will cause ytu to give more at some future occasion, but the premium is due now." ♦
