FOR RETURNED SOLDIERS.
A eubstantial offer ot help towards the patriotic fund has been made by Mr Farquhar Macdonald, of "Pukeroi." Waipipi, who is anxious himself to get away to the front. Mr Macdonald's farm, of over 2000 acres is eminently suitable for cutting up into small farms on which returned soldiers could be sctt'ed, and for this purpose he ha? offered to let the Government have it at £3 per acre less than valuation. He does not desire the cash for the place, but simply will be satisfied with the interest on the purchase money at the ruling rate. In addition, he is willing to give from the purchase money £SOO to one of the patriotic funds, and will, if his services be accepted, purchase and (quip an aeroplane for duty at the seat of war. Mr Macdonald bad already one ton in the firing line and another in nnu of the training camps, but he wants to do more—tc get there himself. The offer, he makes seems to be a splendid one, a d should be taken advantage of by the Governmenr.
