S<mi cmtectors certainly have bad luck with their tenders. Mr Arthur Orr, of Waiuku, with his tenders fur local work, supplied the lowtst price fo the kst two contracts for which tenders were invited, but in both cases those interested deiided to do the work by day labour. In one case the tender was for new sheds at Waiuku for the Auckland Harbour Boa'd, Mr Orr's figure hdng £651, but the Board e'ecided that the amount was too far above the estimate to accept, aid d.cid:d to Bimply grant the contractor t*o guineas for his trouble. Two guineas, however, docs not recompense a roan for the lime and trouble he goes to «n making up u tender.
