"Please let me have the treasure of presenting the first cheque 1 have received from the Waiuku Town Bi ard to one of the patriotic funds," said Mr Lockie Ga:nor, the Board's consulting engineer, et the Board meeting last week, at the same time banding the slip of paper for two guineas across the tabl?.
Mr Walters, the acting-chairman, said the donation would be accepted with much thanks, ard moved that it be placed to the credit of (he Wounded Soldiers' Fund.
This was ssconded by Mr A. M Barriball.
Mr Mellsop. thanked Mr Gannon for his gift, saying he did ho, rot only iib a membir of the Waiuku Town Board, but al o as a member of the Patriotic Furd Committee. Mr Gannon said the amount was small, but it was given with a good spirit. The actiig-chairman said that although tie amount might be small, the manner in which it was given also counted. The pleasing little ceremony ended by Mr Gannon handing the cheque over to the clerk.
