WAIUKU'S LOAN PROPOSALS.

At the Waiuku Town b< ard meeting last week there wua u thort discussion regarding tbe loan proposals, and it was tinhllv decided that the ratepayer be cmularised, pointing out the main facts in connection with the proposal, the benefits to be derived, and the cost that would have tu be borne. Mr J. Gribble who opened the diacussion, said the chairman and the cltrk were going into the matter, a'd he thought it would be well to have a circular issued to all rat-payer?, giving a plan of the district to be benefited. This, he contended, would be better than having a public meeting to discuss the mutter. Mr Lockie Uaunon, the Board's consisting engineer, who was present at the meeting agreed that to circularise the lattpayero was a wise course, and he explained that a similar Btcp h-.cl been taken in connection with trie Takapuna Botough Council's loan proposals. The a ting-chairman, Mr Walter*, agreed ihat the suggestion was a good cup, and at id that if something in ihat line was t j be done it should bo done at once. Mr Mellaop moved ttat Messrs Grilble and Barriball, with the clerk, Mr W. J. King, be appointed to draft a circular to be sent round to the ratepayers. This was seconded by Mr Walters and carried. Mr Gribble said it would be as well tor tbem to Btatc h\>w Jar they were going to spend the money. The idea was to spend £6OOO in the first twelve month?. The cleik pointed out that it was stated in the aJvertiaement regarding the loan that £6OOO was to be expended in toe first year and the talanco in live or six years. The Board could decide where the firnt £6OOO was to be spent. Mr A. M. Bairiball said be understood the loan money was to be spent in proportion in three years. \

Mr H. O. Mtllaop said the firstrate road "should be d> ne first, and in one jub, a'd Mr Walters agreed that it was desirable to do the main vehicular aitcries first of all. Mr Lockie Gam on, the engineer, pointed out that it had been decided that the main roads thould be done first of all.
