DEPARTING SOLDI b!R FAREWELLED. A ta'ewell social was given at Mr S. P Pendergrast's residence on July 16th, in honour of Private D. Keitb, who is leaving shortly for the front. The funct ; on was largely attended by his many friends, During the evening smgs, which were greatly appreciated, were rendered by Mrs Lyle, Messrs D. McWilliams, T. Bell, D. Palmer, and Wilcox, while Siss Hessey Lyle entertained the company with the Scotch Keel and Sword Dance. A dainty supper was spread in an adjoining room, and the usual toasts were horoured, Mr R. B. Pendergrast acting asjehaiman. Mr R. H. McKenzie presanted to the guest a small present and ask d him ta accept it as a token of the good fellowship that ixistrd between him and the people. Jn responding Private Keith sjid that when be returned he toped to sse the same faces again. The floor wss in splendid order, and vith good music dancing was kept up with great spirit until the night wss well advanced.
