OTAUA.

PATRIOTIC ENTERTAINMENT. There was a large attendance in the Otaua Ball on Monday night, when an entertainment was held by the "Gallipoli Concert Company" in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. A substantial sum should be obtained for the good cause, as the building waa well filled. Throughout the programme proved highly enjoyable, the various items being well received, and the appreciation of the audience shown by generous applause. The first part consisted of a minstrel entertainment, of which the chief feature was the many local "hits," and these, needless to say, were well appreciated and caused considerable amusement.. Mr Rocsiter, who occupied tin position cf interlocutor, proved the right man for the position, while the comer men, Messis P. long and W. Hen'on on one ride and Messrs H. Wright ar.d Urea head on the other, caused plenty ot merriment. The others completing t'ue circle were Miss E Ro9»iter, Mips M. McGreco", Meiers ('. Hosking and R, Fenwick.

During the tirst half songs were contributed by Misa £. Bossiter, "Your Kins and Countty Want You"; Miss M. McGregor, "Will you no I'ome Back Again"; Mr W. Hr-nton, "Swane3 Kiver"; Mr H. Wright, "Old Kentucky Home"; Mr H. Greenhead, "Off to Baltimore". A song and dance, "Yidrile on Your Kiddle," by Mesara I'. Tong and W. Hentor, caused a lot of amusement, and in response to an encore they nave "Waltz Me Bound Again, Willie." The accompanist was Mr F. Harribon. Jn the secord portion of the programme socga were rendered by Miss McGregor, Misa N. Swain and Mr 11.l 1 . Tong, and a recitation by Mr Clarke. Accompaniments were | played by Mrs C. Mution and , Mrs Maurice. A dance followed and all present j spent a most enjoyable time tripping the light fantastic.
