TUAKAU
A "bit," which we are glad to announce was not an "inner," has been recorded against Corporal P. Fulton, nephew of [the worthy chairman of the luakau Town Board. Corporal Fulton was a member of the first landing paity on the Gallipoli Peninsula, and was three weeks in the tiring line before being wourded. The nature of his injury has not yet been communicated.
The names of Mersss B. Fulton, J. Fulton, * inch, Pracotl, Wallace and Lawson have been recently added tr the local Tel.'pr.one Exchange list. the proceeds of the recent Patriotic Concert amounted to £l3 nett, of which sum £6 was handed over to the chairman of the Town Hoard towards housing the ambulance. The work has been taken in hand by Messrs Woodbndge and ttan, who are giving their services free of charge. The ambulance will be kept in then space between the National Bank and Mr Parr's shop. Te two lamps erected by the Town Board are giving entire satisfaction, and are much appreciated by one and all. One or two generous minded citizens have donated a lamp or two, which are being kept lighted by members of the Town Board. We understand that several other residents are ccming "to light'' with similar contributions. An all-round improvement to the town is no'ed. A much respected Maori, in the person of Mr Edward Matete, who has been resident here for several years, intends shortly to remove to Mercer.
