ROADING SCHEME FOR PUKEKOHE.

At the meeting cf the Pukckohe Borough Council, held on Wednesday last, the Works Committee recommended a roadir.g scheme for the whole cf the Borough, the sum of £2438 being submitted as neecessary for upkeep absolutely required and to come out of rate rroney, and £3395 for works to Le carried out by a loan. The £3395 suggested tu be rasied by loan consisted of £3OO for lajing "Bituco" as an experiment on three chains of King street, £7lO for Factory road to borough boundary, £l3O for Helvetia road, £3OO tor Harris street, £IOO for road King's to Bilkev's, £145 for Cemetery road, £4BO for Nelson street, £2OO tor Morrow's road, £BO for Cameron Town road, £l3O for Hill Top road, £2OO for Lovett's ro:'d, £250 for Rooae-Reyrolds load, £3OO for road railway station to boundary, £IOO tor Hall street.

The report slso stated that expenditure on Quarry road and for road from Dr Wake's to the station bad been leftover for coosideratioo, whil9t there was £BO on hand for Manukau load, and £3O for Hirkey's road. The Committee further recommended the Council to consider the advisability of procuring a stone crosfcei so that the engine could be kept employed at the quarry when not required on the roads. L'r Barter suggested that £ISOO should he allowed for in the loan scheme so as t) provide for King street being treated with [Bituco or sume other material for its full length. As will be seen elsewhere in the report of the rate discussion, the apportionment o , as detailed, for expenditure from rate money were approved of, and on the motion of Cr Connie, seconded by Cr Barter, the Finance and Works Committee were authorised to formulate definite proposals for a loan.
