Matters in connection with the piopoied loan of £17,000 fur a road improvement scheme were again considered by the Town Board on Monday night. it was reported that application had been made to the State Advances Office tor a lean of £6OOO, the amount it was proposed to raise this year. The reply to the application aa received from the State Advances Office was that advances to local authorities were for the present limited to £SOOO, bat if an advance of that amount would bo of assistance to the borad a foim of application would be forwarded. As to further amounts required, inability was eipressed to giva any assurance that such amounts would b?. obtainable when required. The clerk web instructed ti arrange for a loan of £17,000. provisionally o:i the scheme bting accepted by the ratepayers.
