A synopsis of the by-laws aa adopted by the Waiuku Town Board will be found in our advertising columns of this issue.

The usual monthly meeting of the Waiuku Chamber of Commerce which was to have b.en held on Monday night last was postponed owing to the lack of a quorum.

By a printer's error the name of Mr C. T. Hardball's opponent fur the on the Auckland Education Board appeared in our last isaue aa Mr Body, of Te Kuiti. The name sh.uld have read Mr J. Boddie.

At the monthly meeticg of the Town Board held on Monday evening hat, Mr K. T. Kid. chairman, mentioced that he was endeavouring to have the poll for the £17,000 loan, for the road improvement scheme, fixed to take place in six weeks hence.

The Waiuku ai.d Pukekohe Town Bands are by no means rivals as is so often the case with musicians. On the contrary they are oaly too eager to help one another. Thus for instance at last week's football match two or three Pukekohe bandsmen tamed oat to astist the Waiuku organisation and some Waiuku bandsmen returned the compliment last Sunday by swelling the ranks of the Pukekohe band on the occasion of the National Reserve church parade at Pukekohe.

Speaking on Sunday morning from the text "God has prepared for them that love Hin*," the Rev. J. G. Fumll alluded to the Sccet motto "Be prepared," and be said that if Britain bad only taken that motto to heart years ago the war might have been ended three months since. He went en to say that unlike ua "God Himself was never taken by surprise, but in both nature and grace always made preparation for any emeregncy."

Captain Aldred, formerly of Waiuku, but who has for some months been living in Auckland and acting as Adjutant for the 3rd Mounted Rifles, left Auckland for Wellington by last night's train to join the reinforcements draft for the Mounted Infantry. He has been a deservedly popular officer, and will be. much missed by his regiment. Captain Aldred recently qualified tor the rank of Major, bat has not yet received bis promotion. We venture to predict, however, that he will do so before the draft leaves New Zealand.
