BIG FLOODS AT MERCER.

The fhods at Mercer have reached an alarming height. Many of the Maoii habitations are under water, and by reason of the flood the United Timber Company's mill has been compelled to cease operations, Bome 20 to 30 men being thus rendered out of employment. The waters of the Waikato river was this morning only two feet below the level of the wharf, and are still rising, having penetrated as far as the railway station siding. The ilaxmill at (Jhurchill is under water. The flood is the biggest recorded since 1907.
