BOROUGH ENGINEER PROPOSAL.

At the meeting of the Pukekohe Borough Council, on Wednesday cf last week, the Drainage Committee presented a report recommending the appointment of a permanent Borough - Engineer. Tbey estimated that it' Consulting Engineers had to be appointed for Drainage Work?, Waterworks requirements, and the fiixng of permanent levels for streets, etc., the cost would be £1370, and it Would therefore be economy to amploy a permanent engineer at a yeaily salary of £4OO, for which sum they considered a first clasß mm could be obtained. It was farther suggested that it woul i be more convenient to have an engineer always on Vt 6pjt.

As the hour was late when the report was submitted, it was decided to adjouru its connderation to a special meeting to be held on Monday of next week.
