BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY.

Suggested Formation.

Fallowing on a suggestion made by the president of the Pukekohe District Horticultural Society, Dr C. H. Wak?, at the annud meeting of the Society, held on Saturday last, it was decided to forward a recommendation (o the Pukekohe Borough Council, viz: "That it would be in the interesti of the Borough it a Beautifying Sociaty was formed thertn."

Mr Hubbard was of ths opinm that if a recommendation was forwaided to tie Council to form a Society such as was sjggested, the Cour.cil would certainly support it. He thoujjhc that a recommendation should come from the citizens to ths Council.

Mr Gtigor thought it would be advisable for a deputation from the Society to wait on the Council with a view of going into the matter.

Dr Wake further suggested that it the Society materialised, new roads h the district might be planted. He knew of a part of the district which was about to he cut up and considered it would be well before the road was completed to plant it with trees, etc.

Mr Allen thought that the suggested Society should be purely independent of the Horticultural Society.
