Month y Meeting.
The above-mentioned merting was held on Friday last, but was poorly attended, there being onlv three memb.rs prsent, viz., Messrs G. Hull, chairman, J. N. Massey and E. T. Bent. £IOO GRANT WANTED.
On the motion of Mr Massey, it was unanimously decided that the Government be asked to grant the Board £IOO for the purpose of expenditure on the work ot clearing the silt from the head of the Eastern drain.
The chairman explained that the Government bad agreed to pay compensation for any damage done through the silting up of the drains through backing up the tide, but it would be much batter from the Board's point of view ir, instead of such compensation, a grant of £IOO was givin to the Board. They could then remove the silt accumulated at the head of the drain, and for a considerable distance further down. This silting up had now been going on for two seasons. FINANCIAL.
Mr S. (Jowell's contract account for 132 A chains of the Mawbitiwhiti drain, was passed for payment, approximating £l7. Other accounts were: (J. A. Hull, £4; R. Pulman, £5 2s; F. J. Pulman, £2 12s 6d; J. Matson, £6 2s 6d; G. Short, £1; J. Hanfling, £1 18s. It was agreed that the question of the rate to be struck for the curwnt year shoulJ be dircussed at next meeting, but that nothing should be decided on until a full meeting was held.
Tha financial statement showed that there was an available bank balance of £23 17s 8d to meet the current month's liabilities.
