Friday, May 7th, was the opening night for the season of the Farmers' Union Social Club, a good company assembling in the Public Hall. Euchre was the chief feature of the evening, the following being the prize winners, viz.: Lady's first, Mrs Webby; second, Miss Levens. Men's first, Mr Kay croft; second, Mr E. Fope. Mr M. Brown piovided music on the piano. Mr B. Fitness acted as M.C. The aociais will be field tortnightly throughout the winter months. ihe exodus by rail of live stock from the district has shown an abnormal expansion during the year ended 31st March, 3915, as compared with the figures for the previous year. To-day siv trucks o£ sheep and two of fat cattle were consigned to Southdown for freezing. It speaks well for the qualities of the rich pastures of the district, as also for the high standard of the milking nerds, that the closing of the local creamsry, whicli usually takes place »n May lit, has been prolonged to the end of June. STOCK SALE AT POK&NO. The regular stock sale, conducted by Messrs Bucklaod and Sons at their Pokeno yards on Monday, brought forward a smaller yarding of cattle than usual, and prices were lower all round. Dairy cows sold uo to £9 2s 6d, fat cows from £5 5s to £7 ss, store cows from £2 6s to £4. Yearling to 18months heifers brought £3 108 to £4 sb, whilp calves brought from £1 13s to £2 3a, smaller calves £1 3s to £1 10s, and weedy calves from Ss to 15s.
