MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS AT PUKEKOHE.
Polling took place on Wednesday for the office of Mayor of Pukekohe and for membership (eight seats) of the Borough Council. The following are the results, the figures outcome of the new providing for BubsequenPreoo unt having undergone some slight alteration as compared with those announced on Wednesday night : Mayoral Election. MASON 334 LAWRIE 293 Majority for Mr Mason 41 Mr Lawrie was the retiring Mayor. Previous Mayoral elections resulted : 1912—Dunn 203, Barter 140, Custello 138, Webster 58. 1913 Lawrie (unopposed). 1914—Lawrie 314, Patterson 263. Council Election. ELECTED. Motion .. 391 Comrie .. .. ~ 322 Baiter .. .. .. 315 Patterson .. .. .. 300 Hubbard 299 Beatty .. .. .. 275 Clarke .. .. .. 253 Bilkey 246 UNSUCCESSFUL. McGough ~ .. 235 Stembridgo .. .. 203 Eoadley .. .. .. 188 Keith .. .. .. 184 Andrew 144 Mountjoy .. .. 132 Coaly 123 Webb 106 Hewsou .. .. .. 77 Of the old Council Messrs Comrie, Hubbard, Beatty, Bilkey and McQough sought re-election and with the exception of the last named were all returned. Previous Council elections resulted : 1912—Elected : Hamilton 317, Lawrie 295, Bilkey 293, Pollock 280, Hart 215, Berriman 245. Comrie 224, Johns 214. Unsuccessful: Hurley -Oti, Dell 200, Potter 190, Andrew 166, Mason 145, Wright 130, Jacksou 107. 1913—Elected: Hamilton 280, Pollock 240, Comrie 238, Bilkey 217, Abbott 209, Patterson 208, Beatty 201, Hurley 191. Unsuccessful : Johns 189, Costollo 184, Mason 145, Dell 130.
By-election, April 29th, 1914 (two seats in place of Messrs Abbott and Patterson): Hubbard 404, McGough 338, Mason (not elected) 293.
