PUKEKOHE'S NEW MAYOR.

Mr H. G. R. Mason, Pukekohe's new Mayor, was born at Wellington on June 3rd, 1885, and is the ton: of Mr H. B. Maeon, an official at the Government Printing Works. He was first educated at Clyde Quay Public School, where he gained a Victoria Collegia

Scholarship and also a Wellington 7' College Govferncr's Scholarship. He proceeded to Wellington College and gaining further scholarships, including a Junior University Scholarship, eutered the Victoria University College in 19'J3 and graduated as a B.A. in 1906 and M.A. the following year, securing mathematical honours (or the former. In 1908 he passed the solicitor's final examination and qualified as an LL.B. the succeeding year. Whilst studying at the University Mr Mason fulfilled the duties of an articled clerk at the office of Messrs Kirk and Wilson, solicitors, Wellington, and later on acted as managing clerk for Messrs Wake and Gow, Eltham. Some (our years ago tie took up his residence in this town and commenced his profession as a solicitor. Mr Mason has acted as clerk o( the Pukekohe West Road Board and is a prominent member of the Anglican Church community. Mr Mason married in December, 1912, Miss Rockell, of Eltham.
