Both partus had their patrols and scouti out and these had occasional skirmishes in g-arching for the opposing party's strength and lo:atio;i. One incident ot these opeiattons resulted in a Waiuku group capturing an enemy patrol under a seigeart. The forces finally met in the vicinity of the Mauku Church. Blark ammunition, of courße, was used in Ul2 affair, which was on tha lines of active service conditions. Captain Aldred wes umpire.
